Let me start this blog post by saying Maker's Faire was a blast, although the showcase did start off pretty slow. However, once we obtained the projector to light up the dark room we were ready to roll. The most successful part of our set up was surely the computer connected to the projector. This allowed the person playing to show his screen to all the people that were observing. This attracted so many people that others vendors came by to see what we were showcasing. The next time we go to makers faire I think we should be prepared with more computers, screens, and cable organization. There were a lot of people that wanted to playing the game, but when they looked and realized we only had 3 running computers that were already filled, then they just walked away. Not only that, but we would need more screens or better lighting. Being in the dark room is awesome, because you are able to showcase things that can not be showcased well outside. On Sunday I wore a LED T-Shirt that would light up to any sound detected. I tweaked the sensitivity and the shirt was blinking to the beat of the music from the performance. Not only was it Awesome!, but it caught peoples eyes and as some were walking by, they would stop and look at me one more time to make sure what they were seeing was real. Another showcase at Makers Faire I found Inspirational was the San Jose State Game Design team. These guys were awesome! The created 2 retro style arcade machines that can play up to 2 players. This meant that friends could play with each other making the game twice as fun. They also had bright color changing LEDs that really set the gaming mode in that area. Getting back to the point, their booth was just simply amazing. In addition to their amazing light, they were playing some techno music that got everyone who walked by a bit hyped up. This game was something I had very low hopes for at first. I remember the time I just introduced the idea of using Unity. Now everyone is capable of creating their own level. This really makes me proud. Knowing that I increased the knowledge of some high school kids is awesome. I would really like to see the next year Intro To Design Class take on other challenges and make this game better. In Addition we should save the final games made each year just to keep the documentation of it advancing and getting better. The game should still be called Adrastus, but it should also have a lot more improvements. Starting off, one of them should be on the buggy AI's to the plane textures in the maze. We have set the foundation, now its time for the future to construct something special.
Thank you Team and Ms. Lepla for everything!
